Review Summary for Abe Peters
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Buildings managed by Abe Peters receive mixed reviews. Tenants often commend the responsive and friendly superintendents and managers, as well as relatively quiet environments with decent water pressure and neighbors. However, pest control is a recurring issue, especially with roaches and occasional bed bugs, which some tenants feel management inadequately addresses. Cleanliness and garbage management standards vary, sometimes lacking regular upkeep. Heating tends to be inconsistent in some buildings. While some renters approve of the management and recommend the buildings, others warn of serious maintenance and pest problems that negatively impact living conditions. Overall, tenants suggest more proactive pest control and improved maintenance responsiveness.

Pros:
Perfectly situated 5 minutes walking from train station , nice and quiet at night whilst still gettin the comforting sounds of the distant train, 24hrs tasty Caribbean restaurant ( affordable) in the neighborhood . Great skyline view if you’re on a high floor . Nice quiet building most days perfect for singles and small families . Property manager is nice and willing to work with you on rent if you fall a little behind
Cons:
Major ongoing pest issue , first year I moved in was great but after a year or so all of a sudden pests in every nook and cranny and haven’t changed habits or leave food out , couldn’t get help from super and exterminator visits not much help either . Hard sometimes for packages to get delivered into building
Advice to owner:

Decent building overall
Former Tenant
Pros:
Safe environment and quiet neighbors

The building is not cleaned regularly. Dust all over staircase. Heat was very minimum throughout the winter.
Advice to owner:
Tell super to clean the building more often.

Almost 1 year Lease
Former Tenant
Pros:
The water pressure was nice and it wasn’t too far from the train.
Cons:
There were BED BUGS. The neighbors next door had bed bugs and the landlord refused to act on it. It was an issue for the entire lease to the point where they gave us 1 month free at the end. They also were doing repairs in our room so we couldn’t live in the space for several days.
Advice to owner:
Please take better care of your tenants. You are in service of them.

Former Tenant
Pros:
Building is quiet and residents are polite. Super is responsive to any issue you need him for.
Cons:
Building has a roach infestation. Was forced to move out 2 months before the end of my lease due to the conditions. They were everywhere and this is no exaggeration. Coming out of base boards, out the floors, roaches walking through hallways and into my apartment through creases in front door. I woke up to them in my bed. Truly a nightmare that even pest control couldn’t control. Boric Acid, Mint, roach glue, bleach etc. nothing worked. Do not move into this building at any cost. Roaches are an enormous issue here.
Advice to owner:
Demolish the building as the roaches have settled in and are living rent free!

Shit show.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The living room was large.
Cons:
Where should I start?? Sewage back up into the apartment on multiple occasions. Coming up through the kitchen sink and the bathtub on several occasions. The gurgling and bubbling up of that disgusting smelly filthy Mark was usually brief. But once it would’nt stop and I had to call the fire department to get it to stop. The paint on top of paint, on top of more paint is piled on so thick on the walls that you can’t even close the bedroom door. Water was often turned off without notice.
And the neighborhood is horrible. Drug addicts stalking/following you home from the train station, A young woman and her aunt were bludgeoned to death with hammers in their apartment around the corner. And a man who worked in the deli on the corner was shot and killed in the middle of the day... this place is literallyyyyy the scum of the earth.
Advice to owner:
Fix it. All of it.
