Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant feedback for buildings managed by Allyson Sackman reveals mixed experiences. Positives include well-designed apartments in good locations, friendly neighbors, and responsive management in some cases. However, consistent issues with pest infestations, particularly rodents and cockroaches, are noted, alongside concerns about cleanliness and garbage management. Noise levels and security problems near busy streets also impact quality of life. Several tenants criticize management for being unresponsive or rude, with some mentioning unjustified rent increases. Maintenance is handled when addressed but could be more proactive. Overall, renters should anticipate variable management responsiveness and ongoing challenges with building upkeep under this landlord.

Nice neighbors, but mice and cockroach infestations

Pros

It's a small building in a great location, and I like my neighbors. Close to lots of good food.

Cons

Lots of mice and cockroaches :( I know quite a few of my neighbors have them too. The monthly cockroach treatment isn't enough to keep them at bay. I've also caught 3 mice in traps and had to dispose them sighhh. Management isn't that responsive, depending on what the issue is. They also raised rent by more than 8% this year.

Nice Apartments - Terrible Mangement

Pros

Nice apartments with good layouts and good light. Good location.

Cons

Management is horrible - rude, non-responsive, and without regard for tenants. Non-stop rodent problems, stolen packages, and little mitigation for criminal activity in and outside of the building. It's also incredibly loud, being on the corner of 50th and 10th. In general, the quality of life is not great, with constant noise, an unsafe, dirty building, and a landlord/management company that treats supers live slaves and tenants like prisoners. Living in this building comes with a laundry list of compromises, yet the landlord charges as if it's a luxury building. If the building owner actually cared for tenants, it could actually be a nice place to live. Unfortunately, management makes life hell.

Advice to the owners

Try harder and hire better managment members. There's a reason why all of the long terms tenants are moving out.
