Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by David Kearney reveals a mixed experience. While the location and community are appreciated, tenants frequently highlight poor management communication and slow responsiveness to maintenance issues. Tenants report frequent equipment malfunctions, inconsistent heating, package theft problems, and building upkeep concerns despite relatively high rents. Garbage management and pest control receive moderate praise, but water pressure and appliance conditions often fall short. Suggestions call for improved transparency, timely repairs, and better security measures. Overall, renters can expect a well-located building with community appeal but should be prepared for management challenges and ongoing maintenance shortcomings.

Everything you need

Pros

Parking, rooftop, and great location

Cons

Appliances aren’t great and management is difficult to work with

Former tenant·6 months ago

Solid building, but negligent management

Pros

The apartments are spacious and decently appointed. When the windows are closed, you can barely hear the street. The roof is nice, though no public bathroom hurts. The super (as of this writing) does his best. Greenpoint, of course, is wonderful.

Cons

Management is negligent. They don’t communicate with residents. They changed the door code and never told anyone; the super had to let us in. They nickel and dime everything. When appliances break, which at 20 years old, everything is starting to break, it takes months (in the case of our laundry machine, over a year) to have them fixed. McGuinness is a hellish, dangerous street. We frequently lose heat or hot water. The bathrooms are prone to mold. The garage doors break often and get stuck open, leaving the entire building (including lobby) open to the public. Package theft is a serious, frequent problem. In sum, they are wildly overcharging for this building, even by eye-watering Greenpoint standards.
