Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants of buildings managed by Michael Forrest report a mixed experience, with character-rich older buildings in prime locations offset by significant maintenance and management challenges. Common issues include poor heating, pest infestations, inconsistent garbage management, and slow or unresponsive maintenance, especially concerning urgent repairs. Some buildings show improvement with new supers living onsite, but overall tenant communication and timely problem resolution are lacking. Despite attractive neighbors and neighborhoods, complaints about safety, cleanliness, and rent increases suggest the need for enhanced management responsiveness and better upkeep to ensure reliable and comfortable living conditions.

Notorious Landlord of the LES (DNA info article)

Pros

Such a beautiful 1890-1920 building with wrought iron staircases and old tiled floors amidst such a beautiful neighborhood

Cons

Consistent no heat and hot water in winter. Rats in the trash. Reports of pests in other apartments. Leaks. These are old apartments that are lovely but have had only minor cosmetic renovations.

Advice to the owners

No advice. I am scared of them
