Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Buildings managed by Robert Ast show varied tenant experiences. Strengths include generally clean common areas, well-kept lobbies, prompt garbage management, and build cleanliness, especially in some Queens and Brooklyn locations. Maintenance staff and live-in supers are often praised for helpfulness. However, several buildings suffer from persistent pest issues, especially cockroaches and mice, with pest control perceived as ineffective or inconsistent. Heat and water problems occur intermittently, with occasional leaks and maintenance delays noted. Noise levels and neighbor quality vary widely depending on the building. Owner responsiveness is mixed, sometimes slow or insufficient, though some tenants report timely responses. Overall, management is attentive on cleanliness but needs improvement in pest control, maintenance, and communication.

Great building quiet area

Pros

This is a great area to live in, very family oriented. Right across the street from a school. Decent street parking. The Maintenance staff is the best they keep the building in great shape. Lobby and hallways are always pristine. Mailroom for your packages so they arent just left by the mailboxes all day.

Cons

Sheepshead Bay are is out of the way from many cultural type events. Getting home from the city can be daunting cause trains and buses are inconsistent at certain times of the day or weekends.

Advice to the owners

This place keeps going up on rent and its really not worth it for a single person. Area has nothing for single tenants with no children

Slow to replace broken appliances

Pros

Messes were cleaned up regularly

Cons

They never replaced my broken appliance. I didn't realize at the time that this was a violation of rights as a tenant. There were always issues with the washers and dryers in the basement
