Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants of buildings managed by Samy Mahfar generally find the properties clean, with well-maintained amenities and friendly staff, especially at 171 Suffolk Street. Residents appreciate the spacious units and good pest control. However, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent garbage management, occasional maintenance delays, and unresolved building security issues like faulty keyless entries. Management responsiveness appears mixed, with some tenants noting slow or inflexible service and difficulties with amenity operation. Rent hikes and lack of thorough cleanings after move-outs also affect tenant satisfaction. Overall, while the buildings have attractive features, improvements in management organization and prompt issue resolution are needed.

Great building overall

Pros

Great facilities that are always clean, the building is not too crowded which means you can always use amenities, friendly doormen, never had pest issues or safety issues

Cons

There was some construction across the street that contributed to noise and privacy issues for almost a year at a time where the management company really hiked rents; sometimes had persistent sink leak issues but always addressed

Pros & Cons

Pros

Location is excellent. Lobby is beautiful. Elevators work. Pest control good. Doorman ok. Newer building. Nice roof deck views Property management (elliman) professional but building staff doesn’t work for them

Cons

Smell of pot through vents. They do not clean apartments after move out (things still in cabinets ,drawers dirty, bathroom dirty, etc. Recycling only picked up once every few days and often overflowing Small gym Peloton that is non operational Screens for tvs (amenities non operational and building staff don’t know how to address)
