A true gem
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is impeccably clean - the porters are oddly self-motivated to find new ways to clean. It's like being in a hotel. All the staff is extremely friendly - doormen and porters are always willing to chat and smile. Super is responsive. As a primarily owner-occupied building, there's also a lot of activities (children, garden party, holiday party) to make you really feel like you're part of a community. High floors have incredible views of sunset. The garden is peaceful and beautifully maintained.
Cons:
No dishwashers (unless you're grandfathered in). The apartment ceilings are like a foot lower than I want them to be, so it can feel a little dark and cramped in the winter. If you're renting, its from a private owner, so they are not necessarily the most responsive - however, the building itself covers the vast majority of maintenance so you're set. It's also a clear community - you're not anonymous. That's a blessing but also a curse if you just want some privacy.
Advice to owner:
Keep up the great work.
