Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Marla Siegel highlight a generally responsive and communicative management team, particularly praised for timely repairs and effective garbage management. Tenants appreciate the historic charm, quiet neighborhoods, and good pest control practices. However, some buildings show signs of aging, with issues like poor heating, windows needing repair, and occasional cleanliness lapses in common areas. Water pressure and noise from neighboring fire stations are occasional complaints. Security features like building buzzers and secure package delivery could be improved. While the management's responsiveness is affirmed, efforts towards infrastructure upgrades and enforcing building etiquette would enhance resident satisfaction.

Well mantained pre-war charm

Pros

This building is in a great location, and it's generally quiet. Amazing location! Management is very responsive to repairs needed, and the trash outside is always properly put away and maintained. Even though this is an old building, my apartment was in very good condition, and the hallway looks nice. It is a pretty quiet block, and quiet building.

Cons

A couple of the windows were becoming problematic. You'd have to slam them shut, or the top window would come down by itself. The stairs are in poor condition, with many showing signs of wear at the edges, and sometimes a good while goes by before the hallway and stairs are cleaned. Since the windows are old, even with the heat on, it gets quite chilly inside the apartment. This is outside the building control, but sometimes the apartment smells like diesel fuel. It probably comes from the fire station right next door. The smell lasts a couple of minutes, but it's pretty noticeable, and it happens almost daily.

Great building with some rent stabilized units, not many complaints

Pros

Very good and communicative management, has a great ticketing system for requesting repairs and support. Offers pest control services each month. Relatively quiet building (you do live by a fire station though) with nice neighbors. Packages used to get stolen but this has improved a lot in the past 2 years. Enjoyed living here!

Cons

Poor water pressure and showers constantly turning freezing or boiling with little control.
