Pros

Hot water was consistent, cable/heat/electric included in rent, unit was furnished so it was move in ready.

Cons

On more than one occasion whomever lived downstairs would party until 5am, smoking copious amounts of weed, playing loud music and slamming doors. Landlord was not interested in resolving any of the very few issues I had, including small maintenance issues within the apartment, and telling the other tenants (the few that stuck around long enough) not to turn off the hallway lights like it was their home. The building wasn’t cleaned or maintained until the landlord decided to put the property on the market a few months ago, which he never told me he did. Also, the workers he used to finally do maintenance did not maintain COVID practices and were not wearing face masks. What if I wanted to renew my lease? The front door was often difficult to open, and the bell didn’t work so the mailmen/women were unable to access the building, so they had no choice but to leave the mail near the basement apartment door, so many of my items were misplaced, or more than likely stolen since it was easy for anyone walking down the street to access that area...or maybe whomever lived in the basement apartment stoled them. Also, I overheard the landlord telling potential buyers of the building about my personal and financial business. I’m a single woman in a damn near vacant building, why would you tell complete strangers anything about me? What a creep.

Advice to the owners

If you haven’t sold the building already, do it. You’re not a very good landlord and your talents should be solely left to running your sprinkler business.
