A Solid First Cheap Apartment

Pros

When I was there, the rent was fairly cheap and it was nice to have backyard and roof access. Laundry, while not great, is at least in building.

Cons

You have to beg the management company to do anything. ANYTHING. The building and bottom floor apartments fully flooded and it took them days to do anything about it. When they did? They sent three dudes with one mop, one of which had physically threatened my roommate in the past. Insane. Dudes will hang out on the steps 24 hours a day, scream at people, and management doesn't do anything about it. Cause those are the guys that they'll send to clean your place up when it floods. Those same dudes will keep you up at night yelling and chaining stolen CitiBikes to the front windows of the building. Don't worry- when they run out of space out front? They'll throw more CitiBikes in the backyard. One summer, the AC broke no less than 10 times. The CitiBike dude broke a window once in the middle of winter and it took them three weeks to replace that. CPS will show up to ask you about the neighbors. Cops will show up to ask you about nearby fights. You don't need an alarm- the church next door will wake you up with their music, guaranteed. Wall-shaking worship music bright and early. Praise God.

Advice to the owners

I don't even know dude. Quit? Probably quit.

Alright for first Cheap Apartment

Pros

Price, close to subway lines, roof access

Cons

Awful management, our AC broke 10 times over the course of a summer, sketchy neighbors. CPS knocked on our door about our upstairs neighbor. Constantly men hanging out on the steps all day

Advice to the owners

Quicker response to maintenance requests
