Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of buildings managed by Chaskel Landau suggest a mixed experience. Tenants appreciate the convenient locations and good water pressure. However, issues with cleanliness, heat, neighbors, and pest controlhave been noted. The unresponsive management and maintenance concerns, such as rats presence, impact the overall living experience negatively. While some find solace in the size of the apartments and location, improvements in building upkeep and manager responsiveness are essential for enhancing tenant satisfaction and building reputation. It seems advisable for the management to address these issues promptly to improve tenant experience and approval.

Responsive Management Old Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice neighbors, nice location, issues were fixed quickly with super coming same or next day.
Cons:
The building is definitely showing its age and not just from the fact that it's a prewar but also from the shoddy renovations and repair jobs done throughout the years, does not reflect the price you are paying for a unit.
Hallway always smells, especially during the summer
Needs better garbage management, none of the bins are properly labeled, no compost bin.
All outlets are only on one side of the unit
Fusebox only in basement

unresponsive landlord but nice sized apartment and location
Former Tenant
Pros:
great location, lots of windows in the bedrooms
Cons:
super/landlord pretty much completely unresponsive unless really urgent matter. Sooooooooo many rats around the building. Really terrible smell on the first floor of the building and outside building. Vestibule door is not super secure and few times people would creep in and sleep/pee in vestibule. That all being said, we lived on the third floor so I felt pretty removed from these issues most of them time, and my room was a great size.
Advice to owner:
care more?

Poorly managed
Former Tenant
Pros:
Convenient for dining & shopping & transportation
Cons:
Very poorly maintained building. Very unresponsive management. Lots & lots of rats right out front.
Advice to owner:
I don’t think they need my advice. I think they just need to maintain the building and respond properly when their tenants have issues.
