Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant feedback across buildings managed by Tony Huang indicates consistent issues with building maintenance and management responsiveness. Common complaints include pest infestations (rats, roaches, bedbugs), slow or nonexistent repairs, and poor garbage management. Residents note outdated infrastructure, such as deteriorating windows and malfunctioning elevators, with some safety concerns unaddressed. While some tenants appreciate the buildings’ locations and neighborliness, many find management unresponsive and inadequately staffed, often relying solely on an overwhelmed superintendent. Improvements in pest control, timely repairs, and better communication are crucial for enhancing tenant satisfaction under Tony Huang's management.

Reviews

Former tenant·10 minutes ago

Roaches, broken elevator

Pros

Cheap and across from a subway entrance

Cons

Lots of rats in the garbage are, small roaches in the apartment. Super refuses to make repairs. The elevator smells like vomit and is now out of service due to rain. There's a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom. The building is unlocked and accessible to anyone walking by in the street and weird people hang out in the stairwell.

Former tenant·3 weeks ago

Has potential, if properly managed.

Pros

Great location, good views, nice wood, good looking historic building.

Cons

Incredibly slow turnaround for repairs, which often never happen. The super is overwhelmed, looking after too many properties. It takes months for simple fixes to happen, if they happen at all. Every apartment on the top floor has had water damage for the past 6 months because roof repairs were needed. However, it took active leaks from multiple units for ownership to seek out roofers. It took 2 months for the roofers to come and they still haven’t finished the job. In the meantime, the water damage has worsened. Windows NEED to be replaced. They are dirty (and can’t be cleaned, since they are have double panes) and some don’t close completely.

Advice to the owners

Hire someone to help the super. Replace all the windows.
