Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for buildings managed by Charles Schwartz reveal a mix of strengths and challenges. Many tenants praise cleanliness, pest control, and the presence of useful amenities like gyms, laundry facilities, and roof decks. Several residents find management and maintenance generally responsive, especially regarding repairs, though some report slow or inconsistent communication and difficulty reaching management. Recurring issues include occasional maintenance delays, broken laundry machines, heating problems, pest sightings, and concerns over security with package theft. Noise levels and small apartment sizes are mentioned but vary by location. Overall, tenants suggest improvements in management responsiveness, repair timeliness, and facility upkeep to enhance living conditions.

Reviews

Former tenant·10 minutes ago

Decent apartment with reasonable amenities.

Pros

Newly renovated, central heating and air controlled with remotes in each room. Small gym, like a mediocre hotel gym, but does the job and is open 24/7. Adequate laundry facilities, I only had to wait once or twice.

Cons

Extremely small living space. Weird (not terrible, just offputting) smell in the lobby/stairs. Had a lot of flies which my roommate might have contributed to, but I haven't experienced them in NYC before. There was an incident where an unhoused person was let in and assaulted someone in the hallway-- didn't happen to me, but neighbors put up warning flyers after it happened. The neighborhood is fine if you keep your wits about you, but you definitely shouldn't let your guard down.

Advice to the owners

Management sends repairpeople when requested, but can sometimes be slow to respond.

Alright building, ok management

Pros

I think it is too difficult to contact management. A relatively new building that is pretty and has few issues.

Cons

Could have a more decorated courtyard and many improvements to be made to the gym
