Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for properties managed by Rachel Friedman indicate a mixed experience. Cleanliness and garbage management are generally praised. However, concerns about owner responsiveness, pest control, and noise levels persist. While many appreciate the convenient locations and modern amenities, issues like ongoing pest problems, excessive noise, and inadequate heating during winter have been highlighted. Some residents express dissatisfaction about the management's responsiveness and suggested improvements for tenant treatment and building upkeep. Overall, while there are appealing features, future tenants may want to carefully weigh the management’s reliability against the building's amenities and location.

good location, pricey and small

Pros

the building is cleaned every day/every few days in the stairs/common areas by staff, and there is a package room that staff moves packages into. the super is quite responsive and tries his best, but management is very unresponsive. the location is amazing in terms of convenience, steps away from the subway + a lot of food and things to do. while the building is a walkup it feels modern due to the keypad entrance, the video intercom, and the renovations. the windows are very large and let in a lot of light, and there is a washer/dryer on both the 2nd and 4th floors of the building. there's also a very nice furnished rooftop that people often throw parties on + there is an active building groupchat for updates. the central ac/heat is nice and not outrageously priced like other buildings

Cons

because it is on a main street it can get very loud even at nights, especially on weekends/event days. there are rats on the roof + i have seen one scurry between the first and second floor + in the garbage room. i have never seen rats in an apartment however. while the super was always quick to respond to issues, i would estimate i had issues every 1-2 months and some were not ideal (leak in my room, couldn't use the bathroom for a few days because our toilet was leaking, our ac was leaking and caused a small hole in the roof). also the price is quite high for the size of the living room + bedrooms, while it's fine for 2 people it feels pricy. a lot of people in the building have dogs so you may hear that if your neighbor has pets. also, the ceilings/floors are not sound proof at all so you can hear any noises above or below you very easily. because of how many people live in the building, there are often random people coming and going in the hallways for parties so it can feel busy and at some point there was a small package theft problem.
