Pros:
- Cleanliness
- Responsiveness of onsite staff and management
- Fast elevators
- New improved package room service
- Very clean and nice laundry room
- Relatively quiet for Manhattan
Cons:
- Heating and AC system is quite old and loud. Most importantly, heating cannot be controlled in winter which personally resulted in too many uncomfortable days where it was way too hot in the apartment and I'd have gladly turned it down/off but there is no way to control it (it's also an incredible waste of energy!)
- If you are in a unit near the elevators, it can get quite loud
- While people in the building are friendly, they could be a bit more considerate when in the hallways (you can hear everything though apartment entrance doors since they have huge gaps)
- Depending on who you are, you might find it hard to feel like you "fit in" here. There's very little diversity in this building and it kind of corresponds to UES stereotypes. While this is sadly true for most nice buildings in NYC, it did feel a bit more extreme here compared to other buildings in other parts of the city. That said, I haven't seen specific examples of concerning or annoying behavior that might make someone feel unwelcome
- Not a con in general, but for young people reading this: building residents skew older so make sure this is the vibe you want
- It happened a couple of times that maintenance staff were not very respectful when entering apartments
- Very small bathrooms
- A gym was supposed to be built and opened more than a year ago but we're still waiting...
Advice to owner:
Please turn the heating down and make the system more efficient and adjustable
