Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Barry Reiss reveal mixed management experiences. While some buildings are noted for cleanliness, effective garbage management, functioning heating, and strong water pressure, persistent issues like pest infestations, especially roaches, and outdated laundry facilities are recurring problems. Communication and responsiveness from management vary significantly, with some tenants finding staff helpful and others frustrated by slow or inadequate responses. Neighbor relations can range from friendly to challenging, affecting the overall living environment. Rent stabilization status differs between buildings, sometimes influencing maintenance levels. Prospective renters should expect uneven management quality and ongoing maintenance challenges in properties under this landlord.

Persistent Roach Problems at 6545 Yellowstone

Pros

Convenient location and relatively spacious apartments. Building is close to transportation.

Cons

The biggest issue was a persistent roach infestation. Roaches were regularly seen in the apartment and common areas, including the laundry room and lobby area where packages are left. The building is older and, in my experience, does not appear to be maintained to a standard that adequately addresses pest issues. The laundry room is outdated and often felt unclean. I found roach eggs several times. Communication with management was also frustrating, as responses to concerns and maintenance requests were often slow or difficult to obtain. The roach issue was not a one apartment thing. It was all over. The pest control company the management brings sucks.. they come at random times and just expect you to be home.

Fine Building / Some Odd Neighbors

Pros

The staff is nice and responsive. Will help you if you ask. Building is fine, most neighbors are friendly. Clean. Very family / quiet building.

Cons

There are a few very caustic neighbors that you don’t want to live next to or end up with in an elevator.

Advice to the owners

Take the neighbor complaints seriously.
