Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants of buildings managed by Marisa Kinsey appreciate the responsive and caring management, particularly praising the live-in super James for prompt issue resolution and building upkeep. Cleanliness and garbage management are consistently rated well, contributing to a pleasant living environment. However, some units have heating issues with limited tenant control, and occasional pest problems have been noted. The buildings tend to attract friendly neighbors with manageable noise levels, though some are situated on busy streets. Reasonable rent increases and willingness to negotiate with good tenants are additional positives. Overall, expect attentive management focused on tenant satisfaction despite some typical urban apartment challenges.

Good affordable option

Pros

The super is great. Management cleans the common area at least once a week. Pest control is available once a month if needed but we’ve had minimal issues (a few roaches over the span of multiple years but nothing crazy). The back of the building is super quiet but I imagine units on the front get much more noise (the street is especially busy on the weekends in the summer as there are a ton of restaurants/bars with outdoor seating). Rent increases are very reasonable and the management company is willing to negotiate if you’re a good tenant. The building is mostly young post grads so some neighbors can be noisey but it’s usually just on weekends and never so bad that I can’t sleep.

Cons

Tenants can’t control the heat so some units do end up over heated.

Nice NYC Apartment

Pros

Great location, nice neighbors, responsive super, and decent space

Cons

Could get really hot in both winter and summer. Had some ground in dirt from years and years ago, hard to keep apartment looking clean. Overall, older NYC apartment with some of the same issues as other ones
