Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by Michael Rothstein consistently point to persistent maintenance issues, notably chronic water leaks and pest infestations, that remain inadequately addressed over long periods. Tenants often report poor cleanliness and garbage management, alongside slow or unresponsive management, contributing to frustrations. While some appreciate the convenient locations and quiet neighborhoods, dissatisfaction with lease handling, deposit returns, and adherence to housing laws is common. The management shows some understanding during difficult times but generally fails to provide timely, effective solutions or maintain building infrastructure properly. Prospective renters should expect ongoing maintenance challenges and lower responsiveness from building management.

Worst Experince Ever

Pros

The building is located in a busy part of Flatbush with access to transportation, shops, and restaurants nearby.

Cons

The building has had serious water leak issues for years. In my experience, the same areas have been leaking repeatedly for over 25 years with little to no permanent resolution. Instead of properly fixing the root cause, temporary patch jobs seem to be done over and over again. This leads to ongoing damage to apartments and businesses in the building. It’s extremely frustrating to deal with the same structural issues year after year. I left

Advice to the owners

Address the underlying structural and plumbing issues once and for all instead of relying on temporary repairs. Long-term tenants and owners deserve a permanent solution to the chronic leaks that have been affecting this building for decades.

Somewhere to sleep

Pros

Rent stabilized. The location is a couple blocks away from Kings Theatre. The landlord is very understanding of difficult times.

Cons

Response from management is the worst. The super in the building is never available. He is always high or drunk. Claims that he has no cell. Landlord doesn't care. It's the ghetto.

Advice to the owners

Better building management is severely needed.
