Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for buildings managed by Howard Wieder expose significant management challenges. Tenants repeatedly report poor pest control, particularly persistent roach infestations that severely impact living conditions. Communication and responsiveness from management are often described as slow or inadequate, with many requests and maintenance issues left unresolved or delayed. Garbage management and heating receive mixed feedback, with some praising functionality but others noting noise disturbances and incomplete promised amenities like rooftop improvements. The property upkeep, especially cleanliness and noise control, is inconsistent. Overall, renters caution prospective tenants about unresolved maintenance concerns and suggest the need for a more proactive and responsive management approach.

Roach infested apartment

Pros

It looks modern and cute I guess

Cons

The building is infested with roaches, even if you clean and get the exterminator. That place gave me forever PTSD OCD about NYC roaches. I would avoid at all cost unless they figure that problem out.

Unhelpful Weaponized Ignorance

Pros

outside community (irrespective of any help from management)

Cons

Gila is widely inaccessible and avoids emails and phone calls. Our building lost power for 48 hours, and we could not access our homes because the outside door is controlled with electricity with no backup key. We were sent no emails regarding these concerns. The building also has a PERSISTENT pest and roach issue that management is intent on not solving. The water pressure is terrible and I have had a brokens stovetop since move in with no help sign of resolution. This was almost a year ago now. Bad building--worse management. Do your best to avoid

Advice to the owners

do better. fumigate the building. develop better customer service.
