Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews of Ernest Megdanis-managed buildings reveal a mixed management experience. Properties like 66 Pinehurst Avenue are praised for cleanliness, safety, friendly supers, and responsive management, contributing to a positive community feel. Updates and maintenance are generally well-received there. Conversely, 600 West 187 Street faces significant challenges: persistent pest infestations, inadequate heat, thin walls, and noise issues, coupled with poor responsiveness and confrontational management staff. Tenants commend individual supers but often criticize the broader management team's unhelpfulness and communication lapses. Overall, renters can expect well-kept, secure buildings in some locations, but may encounter frustration with maintenance delays and management responsiveness in others.

Pretty Good Overall

Pros

Building is nice, clean. The supper is usually good about responding. Almost no concern for pest (total of like 3 cockroaches in the 2 years)

Cons

Management can suck with responding to messages.

Advice to the owners

Respond to messages faster.

It is what it is.

Pros

The location of the building was pretty much the only pro, it was close to church, hardware store, grocery stores, supermarket, public transportation, schools.

Cons

Management does nothing to actually fix any problems that arise unless you get the city involved. The walls were so thin I could hear the neighbors in bed & when they’d watch a movie, their music, couldn’t find a good spot to hang on the walls because it would go right through the “wall”. The RODENTS! My goodness, the rodents, the mouses would at times be roaming the hallways, cockroaches all the time no matter the cleanliness, the exterminator was useless. Management was also extremely rude for no reason aside from their power trip I’m guessing. Horrible.

Advice to the owners

Take care of your building, invest in better materials and products when you do replace something and take an anger management class and etiquette class to learn how to speak to tenants who would pay you.
