Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Pietro Martire reveal a mixed tenant experience. Some buildings benefit from responsive, accessible management and good pest control, with tenants appreciating a sense of community and convenient locations. However, issues such as noisy units with poor insulation, thin walls, and occasional maintenance shortcomings, including lack of communication and rude landlord behavior, are noted. Garbage management quality varies widely, and tenants sometimes face invasive landlord conduct and security deposit disputes. Overall, tenants advise more professional management practices, better construction quality, and improved communication to enhance living conditions in these buildings.

Noisy with bad natural lighting

Pros

There's access to a washer/dryer, although it's only one washer and dryer shared by nearly 30 apartments. Rent is relatively cheap compared to other apartments in the area. Apartment itself looks decent.

Cons

If you're in a studio, you'll have paper thin walls. I could hear my next door neighbor's conversations word-for-word. When they dropped their keys, my apartment vibrated. Also, the ceilings/floors are pretty thin. My upstairs neighbor's stomping around often woke me up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. And the unit got horrible lighting since it's tucked away in the shadows of the building. My apartment only got some natural lighting maybe during one hour each day. I would find at least one cockroach in my apartment every month, despite being extremely neat and clean. The landlords are pretty rude - the first time I spoke with one of them, he yelled at me because he was confused and didn't realize I was calling to pick up my keys to the unit. I think he thought I was an existing tenant. And lastly, the landlords didn't give me back my entire security deposit, despite the unit being in great condition when I moved out. Overall, it was a nightmare to live here.

Advice to the owners

Invest in better construction for the walls separating units. This building was a nightmare to live in.
