Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Marlon Barahona reveal a mix of tenant experiences. Residents often praise the quiet, friendly neighbors and the nearby amenities. Heat and water pressure are generally well maintained, and some supers receive positive mentions for responsiveness. However, consistent pest control issues, particularly roaches, are a significant concern across multiple buildings. Garbage management and building cleanliness receive mixed feedback, with some complaints about poorly maintained common areas and security lapses like propped doors and package theft. Communication with management and addressing maintenance requests, such as buzzer repairs and kitchen upgrades, could be improved to enhance tenant satisfaction.

Nice Building with Roaches

Pros

Not a big building. Its quiet and basically on a clean street with no drama outside. Near the trains and there are coffee shops in the neighborhood.

Cons

This building has a roach problem. No matter what you do they are there. The apartment (one bedroom) is extremely small and it is really a studio parading as a 1 bdrm.

Advice to the owners

Please handle this serious roach problem

Great neighbors, unhelpful management

Pros

Neighbors are friendly and courteous. Super always picks up the phone and is very helpful. Management sent pest control immediately when I thought I had bedbugs (I didn’t). Quiet block and well-lit at night. Heat is great, Water pressure is good.

Cons

Got a significant rent discount for having a guarantor. Great for me but making financially secure tenants pay less than financially insecure ones is kinda messed up and backwards. Front buzzer is supposed to connect to my phone but was never set up so I have to walk downstairs to let people in. I called 10 times for them to fix it but eventually gave up. This was extremely inconvenient when I first moved and wanted to let package deliveries in but couldn’t because I was at work and remote unlock feature wasn’t setup. Hot water for shower sometimes runs out at peak times. My unit does not have a fan over the stove and management refused to install one. Packages get stolen quite often. People often prop the front door. Don’t expect any security whatsoever. A group of young men who live here often hang out in the lobby/hallways and they’re very courteous (always open the door / make way for you) but they can be noisy, sometimes late at night. A couple of tenants smoke cigarettes in the lobby with the door closed so the hallways always smell terrible.

Advice to the owners

Fix the buzzer setup and install stovetop fans.
