My time at 185 East 85th
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doormen and porters are amazing. Fantastic staff willing to help anytime.

Apartments are large and sunny, although some have outdated appliances they are still great apartments
Cons:
Shake Shack is right below the back entrance of the building which creates a lot of noise due to the public pavillion attached. Only loud during spring/summer months but during winter this is no issue at all
Advice to owner:
Work with tenants who pay full standard rent to remain in the building instead of pricing out.

Lovely place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lovely doormen, large living space, all the amenities (elevator, dishwasher, laundry in building, trash chute, et.)
Cons:
Occasional pest problems and poor management
Advice to owner:
Be nice to your nice tenants - I ended up having to move out because new management changed the rules to where only 2 people could only live in the apartment and we’d always had 3 people. It was tragic to have to leave a place I’d come to call home because I couldn’t afford it anymore

Great value building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The price for the units are very attractive. Even the renovated units are affordable. The doormen are good and the staff are responsive enough.
Cons:
The management is extremely non- responsive, so it's a hassle when it comes to signing the lease, changing tenants, etc.

Awesome doormen, great quality for price
Former Tenant
Pros:
- super clean
- awesome doormen (friendly, helpful, pleasant)
- hardworking building staff, vacuum hallways regularly
- minimal rent increases YoY ($80-$100 total)
- reasonable rent
- awesome roof and views
- small garden in back
Cons:
- minor pest issues (some roaches across multiple floors for new-er bldg)
- took super long to get security deposit back and had to berate several times via phone to finally receive
- some laundry machines didn't work great
- got a bit "party-esque" but now that they no longer allow flexes this is better
Advice to owner:
Return security deposits sooner, improve pest issues
