Pros
I have never had to worry about pests, rodents, etc. The water pressure is always good and water temperature is reliable even during shower rush hour. Neighbors are friendly. Trash is managed outside the building. Apartment has hallways and it is pretty long relative to other prewar building apts.
Cons
No washer dryer in unit OR in building. Definitely an old building and needs some renovating: leaks in our ceiling during rain storms (lived on top floor), paint is peeling off in bathroom, bath tub has permanent rust (maintenance has sanded and painted over it but it keeps coming back). Recycling system is confusing and there is no plastic only bin. I have had a package stolen (was delivered inside the building) and have heard of neighbors having similar issues. Indoor living spaces have a lack of windows and lighting.
Advice to the owners
Renovate / invest in longer term solutions rather than applying “quick fixes” which will only work temporarily.
