Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for Ernest McClain's buildings, particularly at 176 Clarkson Avenue, highlights spacious apartments in a convenient location near Prospect Park. Rent stabilization is a positive feature. However, management responsiveness is frequently described as slow or lacking, with many tenants reporting delays in repairs and maintenance, particularly regarding leaks, pest infestations, and heating issues. Cleanliness varies, with decent dumpster management but persistent pest problems. The superintendent's performance is often criticized as ineffective. Tenants suggest improving maintenance responsiveness, pest control, and building upkeep to realize the building's potential. Overall, renters appreciate the space but caution about ongoing management challenges.

Reviews

New management company tightened things up

Pros

Porter does a great job with cleaning most of the building. It’s only 1 porter but he does a great job. Big units. Fairly quite building. Residents are mostly elderly so they keep to themselves.

Cons

New super is pretty bad and doesn’t fix anything. Pests(roaches rats) leaks. ALOT of leaks. Kids smoke in lobby.

Advice to the owners

Unless it’s plumbing or electrical get ready to do it by yourself. Or you’re gonna have to hire someone to do it.
