Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Walter Saindach indicate a mixed tenant experience. While the location and social atmosphere of the properties, especially around 170 Allen Street, are often praised, management responsiveness and building maintenance repeatedly draw criticism. Tenants report slow or unclear communication from the owner, unresolved noise problems from nearby nightlife, and occasional cleanliness and garbage issues. Heating and pest control receive varied feedback, and prolonged delays in repairs or service calls are common. Prospective renters should expect lively surroundings but may face challenges with noise, maintenance responsiveness, and overall management organization.

Do not live here - management never responds, extremely noisy, unlivable

Pros

Took me a while to think of but... -Rent price is negotiable

Cons

-Management took about 6 weeks to reply to an email (this is not an exaggeration). They do not care if you have an urgent issue. Good luck getting a response. -The noise is truly unlivable. The windows are so old and let in every bit of noise from the bar across the street (Hair of the Dog) and then cars come at night and blast music on the intersection of Orchard and Stanton. There are typically hundreds of people out there. You can hear everything. Do not live here if you want to sleep again. This is even for apts on higher floors of the building. -The broker is very confusing on purpose. Don't let it fool you. Ask the questions you need (as many times as you need) to get the information you're looking for. -I used my heat and AC almost never, but the utility cost was often between $150-250 per month (single person, living in a very small apartment) -Laundry machines stopped working for 2 months. No communication to tenants about this or any urgency to fix -Hallways are very smelly

Advice to the owners

Respond to your tenants. Double paned windows. Be less shady.

crazy noise all summer long, just the worst, ok place

Pros

I liked the laundry in building, no pest problems which was nice living next to a restaurant...

Cons

Layout of apt was weird and very cavey, laundry machines lowkey robbed me 50% of the time, and the noise from orchard st. was oh my god!! people would park outside, open all their doors, blast music as loud as they could, I would frequently leave my apt in the middle of the night in pajamas to try and beg ppl to go park somewhere else! not to mention music from hair of the dog all day every day all summer, astonishing I made it through a full year here... Wouldn't ever live here again, but it could've been worse.

Advice to the owners

refund ppl who get robbed by the laundry machine? Also respond to their emails.
