Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants generally find Christopher Alker's buildings well-staffed with friendly, responsive doormen and management. Buildings are clean and quiet with good heating and water pressure, although some apartments have old amenities and varying conditions due to individual ownership. Pest control frequently emerges as a concern, especially recurring cockroach issues, with some recommendations for more comprehensive building-wide treatments. Residents appreciate the location and organized common areas, but note occasional noise and smell intrusion between units. Overall, management responsiveness is good, though some tenants urge quicker repairs and better upkeep, especially for outdated appliances and infrastructure, ensuring a decent living experience despite minor drawbacks.

Mid in Midtown

Pros

Building is nice overall. Building staff are friendly and kind. I don’t worry about getting mice or rats. Depending on location good view and good sunlight.

Cons

Building has a pretty massive cockroach problem and because each unit is owned separately there is no building-wide solution - it is quite literally every unit for themselves. There are at least 4 breeds of cockroaches and they are all the way up to even the top floors. For how expensive the building is this pretty ridiculous. Walls are thin and noise and smell transfer between units on your floor and above/below - pretty annoying to smell what your downstairs neighbors are burning ever night for dinner. Also because of the individual ownership the condition overall and appliances vary unit to unit.

Advice to the owners

You need to just bug bomb this whole building or you’ll never fix the roaches.

Building was not bad

Pros

Most doormen were really nice; super was pretty responsive; neighbors were cordial

Cons

pest control was not the best (none in unit, but found roaches in basement and on floor's elevator / common area)

Advice to the owners
