Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Pete Jacov reveal significant management challenges. Tenants report persistent maintenance issues including lack of heat, hot water outages, and water interruptions. Pest infestations with roaches and mice are common, alongside poor garbage management and cleanliness. Despite some appreciation for historic architectural elements and a few positive neighborhood aspects, the landlord is frequently described as unresponsive and slow to address problems. Noise disturbances and neighbor conflicts also detract from tenant satisfaction. Overall, renters advise substantial building renovations and improved communication, signaling a need for more proactive and responsible property management.

Old building with old building problems

Pros

Having a relatively hands-off landlord allows for more freedom to renovate the apartment, make changes, and have it go unnoticed. The building is prewar and does have some charming elements. The neighborhood is lively and has excellent amenities close by.

Cons

Had to endure a long period of having mice because the baseboards and walls were eaten through. The building also doesn't provide heat, despite being rent-stabilized. There were several instances of the water being shut off without notice due to problems with pipes and water mains. Hot water runs out sometimes, too.
