Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews of buildings managed by Estie Bernstein reveal varying experiences. While some properties boast cleanliness and responsive management, others face issues like unfriendly neighbors, inadequate heat, and slow responsiveness. Rent-stabilized buildings offer affordability, but non-stabilized ones may lack quality management. Amenities like proximity to subways and supermarkets are highlighted positively. Suggestions include more frequent pest control and improved office staff for better service. Overall, the buildings offer a mix of pros and cons, making them suitable for those seeking specific features or willing to overlook certain drawbacks.

Decent building; unfriendly neighbors

Pros

Rent stabilized. Rental office in building. Super responsive. Elevator always works. Consistent monthly visits from exterminator.

Cons

The neighborhood is a food desert. No laundry in building. Neighbors are not nice, and won’t hold the elevator/front door for you. Allegedly, only 1 BDR apartments in building; seems like they play favorites and don’t disclose other available units to current tenants. They are very cheap with the heat in the winter, and when you call to complain they blame it on the system but don’t do anything about it. 311 doesn’t help.

Not great, but decent for the money

Pros

Honestly, mostly the price. Stabilized 1-bed was $1400. Also, being next to the train is really nice.

Cons

Common could be cleaned better. The super cleans the hallways, but rarely the stairs, and people are always leaving trash in the building. If your unit faces Nostrand Av, expect a lot of noise. If you're on a high floor, expect temps of 75-78 in the winter
