Solid pre-war building with nicely renovated units
Pros
So close to the park, Greenmarket, and Nitehawk! It's a walk up though so if you're on the top floor be prepared for that. It'll help keep you in shape at least. Noise was a concern with the nearby hospital but even during the pandemic it was actually fine as the ambulances arrive on 7th street. Evening shift changes around midnight on the other hand could be annoying as hospital staff lingered outside chatting, often with music playing from their cars for 30+ minutes. The school and church across the street was never an issue either. It's a really pleasant block with perfect park access. Noise inside the building though was minimal with nice pre-war construction. Landlord's son was always responsive via email.
Cons
The building may have been upgraded since we lived there but the lobby/stairwell areas could feel dirty. The trash areas could also get messy but as expected with buildings of these sizes and era. Rats did jump out of the trash can on a couple occasions — certainly another way to get your heart moving. More concerning was two robberies of top floor units. Cameras were installed after this but the roof door had to remain unsecured due to fire safety. I believe the robbers entered via fire escape windows anyway. Police said this was happening all over Park Slope at the time. Also experienced some package theft. Too many people letting randoms enter after them.
A Place in the Park
Pros
As an introduction to Park Slope, you can't get any better than this building (unless you're on PPW, that is). Live in extremely close proximity to some of the best restaurants in NYC and Prospect Park
Cons
Heating occasionally comes on about a month too early (while its still hot out)
Advice to the owners
Maybe be a little faster answering emails
