Landlord is Aggressive, Greedy, Scary

The location of the building in Greenpoint is great. The behavior of the landlord is not.
Cons
Landlord regularly bullies his tenants. He yells at us, forces us to re-sign our leases by showing up unannounced and banging on our doors late at night and then stands there demanding a signature while we are in our pajamas and haven't had a moment to read the new lease or contemplate the price increase on our own. He says inappropriate comments to female tenants and makes us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. He has cameras placed around the building, even in private spaces and refuses to remove them or relocate them when he is asked to or told the placement is inappropriate, but gets angry instead, which is frightening. He threatens his tenants, creating an atmosphere of anxiety, stress and helplessness that we might not get our lease renewed if we do not comply with his demands and live under his aggressive rule. He ultimately only cares about money, not his tenants in the least. We each live with a fear about how much our rents will be raised the following year, not knowing if it will be affordable, but knowing that he doesn't care if we were to question the price increases. This building should be under rent control but Jan regularly raises the rent, even during the height of the pandemic. He has evicted past tenants for questioning the status of the building's rent control. I do not recommend renting from this family's multiple properties as they are greedy, inappropriate and insulting.

This behavior is inappropriate and unacceptable.
