Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews of buildings managed by Alan Messner present a mixed picture. While several tenants appreciate the cleanliness and garbage management, concerns about owner responsiveness and maintenance issues are frequently raised. Many residents report delays in addressing repairs and complaints, with some feeling uncomfortable due to questionable management behavior. Noise levels and pest control continue to be issues in some buildings. Despite appreciating the apartments' aesthetics and location, dissatisfaction with management's support is a recurring theme. Potential renters should consider both the appealing environments and the potential challenges with management responsiveness before choosing a building.

Great building & speedy management

Pros

- Lots of natural light - Good apartment layout - Nice appliances like in unit washer dryer and wall unit air conditioners - Management always responds quickly and things get fixed asap

Cons

Just minor things: - The floors are slanted in some areas - The bus stop is right outside and will honk on end when people block it

Advice to the owners

I think they're doing a great job!

Aesthetic over Quality

Pros

Ofcourse the location is great, the exposed brick and wood look is good but at what cost. There is a laundromat across the street even though there is no laundry in building. We had a dishwasher.

Cons

The owners are not good at all. There are very misogynist. One time they came to see the issues in the apartment and walked in on me in the bathroom without knocking. Did not even apologize. They don't look you in the eye if you are a woman. All the issues in the apartment were only addressed after emailing them multiple times. The building has pest problems because it is above a restaurant. The owners also try to raise rent as high as possible so you have to really negotiate every lease. The building is also poorly insulated with single layer bricks. So expect high heat bills in winter. The windows were very drafty so had to get management to come deal with it. They don't maintain the personal the heat/Ac units. They gave the full deposit back after a month of leaving but without interest.

Advice to the owners

Don't be an entitled classist misogynist twat.
