Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback on buildings managed by Jose Mieses reflects mixed experiences, especially at 330 West 55 Street. Residents value the prime location, affordable rents, spacious units, functioning heating, and generally quiet environment with friendly neighbors. Laundry facilities and water pressure receive positive mentions. However, pest control remains a consistent concern, with roach and occasional rodent issues reported. Management responsiveness is often seen as slow or inadequate, particularly regarding maintenance and addressing tenant complaints. The building superintendent garners significant criticism for poor attitude and inefficiency. Package theft and limited security measures also detract from tenant satisfaction. Overall, expect decent apartments but prepare for potential management and pest-related challenges.

Decent Hell's Kitchen apartment building with prime location

Pros

- Location - Stable and affordable monthly rent price - Laundry in building - Apartment size - Quietness of building (thick walls)

Cons

- Frequent package theft - Slow elevator - Lack of video surveillance cameras on property - Inefficient and unhelpful superintendent - Impolite building manager - Building "doormen" only available on certain days in the evening hours (does not help with package theft during the day) - Limited laundry room hours (no late night washing or all day on Fridays)

No real complaints

Pros

Great workers there watching our mail and making sure things are clean, laundry room hours are good and usually empty, laundry machines always work, price is reasonable for convenient location, has an elevator

Cons

Smokers in the staircase, cockroaches even though pest people come monthly, a neighbor told me he’s had a mouse
