Not worth the trouble
Former Tenant
Pros:
High ceilings and well located. Red Hook is a fun neighborhood and the grocery store, bars and restaurants are all right there.
Cons:
To summarize: the building managers are incapable of maintaining this property, and uninterested in helping tenants. This apartment building has no sound or thermal insulation, which is most problematic during the summer and winter months. In December my unit couldn’t get above 63 degrees, in July it struggled to stay below 83 degrees. I brought this to the landlord’s attention numerous times but they were unable to correct it. Any loud cars on the street below sound like they’re in the room with you. And in my final two months there, I experienced a centipede infestation that took weeks for the property manager to correct. Other issues took months to address, such as a leaking kitchen sink. The communications between myself and the manager went from indifferent to hostile, and at the end of my lease they stopped communicating with me altogether, then increased the rent. The other tenant in the building moved out at the end of her lease as well, which doesn’t surprise me.
Advice to owner:
Learn to maintain your property and listen to your tenants.
