Live somewhere else
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Great sunlight - Spacious living area - Gas range - No pests - Quiet, respectful neighbors - Cool Highline view
Cons:
- Weird super. - Dimly lit, grimey building. - Packages stolen constantly. Super will blame you. - Nonstop heat/hot water issues. Only way to resolve was to call 311. Apartment temperature often was below 50° in the winter. - Isolated neighborhood. Empty storefronts. Transit desert. 15 minute walk to the C/E. 7 train is a little closer but unreliable. - Poorly maintained. Bathroom drain was clogged for 6 months and I brushed my teeth in the kitchen sink until the super bothered to fix it. - Cameras do not work. Super doesn’t have access and even a police report will not help. - 28th street is noisy from double parked cars laying on the horn but this is pretty normal for most of the area.
Advice to owner:
Fix the cameras and front door lock. Add more lighting to stairwell and entryway. Fix the cameras.

Not worth renting
Former Tenant
Pros:
It is a roof over your head
Cons:
Super old and narrow. Appliances are old. Mosquito problem. Over a bar that is loud. Lack of privacy being visible from the high line. Lack of DIY laundry options nearby
Advice to owner:
Just make each floor an apartment and gut renovate it

Too much money to be freezing
Former Tenant
Pros:
It's in a nice neighborhood.
Cons:
My packages have been stolen multiple times. The heat if it's on isn't held in by the windows or the building at all. If it's cold outside the second the heat goes off which is very often its freezing in the building. The drains are awful and the fix is just keep putting draino in. No washer dryer for the price, tiny easy bake oven for the price, tiny fridge too. The noise from the usps sorting center and from the traffic gets right in and it's loud all day and night. The bar below that serves $30 drinks is also loud and plays same 12 songs on repeat every single day.

Infested with Mice
Former Tenant
Pros:
I liked the super, Joe. He was very sweet
Cons:
Management (Tassos) is horrible. Lived here for 2 years and my unit was constantly infested with mice even though I was incredibly clean, never left food out and patched up all visible holes. They rarely responded to my requests to have the problem addressed and they were incredibly rude.
Advice to owner:
Be nice to your tenants who are paying a lot of money to live in your crappy building.

Heat was horrible
Former Tenant
Pros:
It was a great location
Cons:
The super is creepy, the heat was either never on or blasting and steaming and the landlord didn’t care. The stairwell was never cleaned and the floors are completely slanted due to structural issues
Advice to owner:
Renovate

Good location, small apartments
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to bars, restaurants and other attractions in Chelsea. Affordable for the neighborhood.
Cons:
Relatively far away from subway. Apartments are small. Seems to have originally been one or two bedroom apartments, turned into three-bedroom units. The third room is very small and not well ventilated. The building’s super can sometimes be rude with complaints and does not immediatly provide a solution to problems.
