Great Space for Annoying Price

Pros

Big living room with windows. Big for nyc.

Cons

Landlord takes long to respond. Had mice problems take came in through a hole (made to fix plumbing one time and took 9 months to fix hole). Refrigerator didn’t work for 4 months (we bought a new one eventually and took it out of rent). Before moving out we had no hot water or stairway lights for 13 days and got no compensation for it. Downstairs neighbor would smoke in the building and make the apartment smell. Heater in living room didn’t work well.

Advice to the owners

Compensation is needed for 13 days without hot water.

Owner is a crook

Pros

Great location, fun area to live. Good neighbors in the building, mostly keep to themselves. That’s about it.

Cons

Owner is a selfish crook. Unresponsive to tenants when they have problems, even though he and his family live in the building, they might as well be on another planet. Including when you move out, don’t expect your security deposit back. The owner disappears, and if you push him, he threatens to sue you for imaginary damages. Apartments have no closets and awkwardly sized bedrooms. Garbage outside piles up weekly and absolutely stinks. They throw trash from the store in there and it gets out of control. Stay away.

Advice to the owners

Stop stealing from your tenants who have paid faithfully and on time. Stop disrespecting tenants who trusted you and treated you with respect. Honor your lease agreements and stop breaking the law by illegally withholding security deposits.
