Great location awful building

Pros

Location is amazing

Cons

Outside noise is so bad. Garbage trucks come at midnight and even being on a higher floor it feels like you’re inside the truck. So loud. And you can hear people yelling outside, loud cars, loud music. I’ve lived in New York for over a decade and this is louder that usuall. Also you can definitely hear neighbors stomping around. Not a lot of peace and quiet. Also every other Sunday someone cooks something that smells so fishy and the smell literally seeps into my apartment. Overstimulation central. Also the trash is kept inside the apartment building ground level and it’s so smelly on bad days. People pay way too much to live here. I’ve seen roaches in the main staircase and I don’t doubt the walls are covered in them. The super can be responsive but he will often do whatever he wants / not exactly what you’re asking for. Even when things break or need to get fixed it could take forever or be quick. But you never know or get a clear explanation of anything.

Advice to the owners

Do better for the amount of rent you charge

Great location, but depends on the unit

Pros

great location; lots of stuff to do around

Cons

bar below is very loud and street noise is pretty loud; some of the units are in very rough shape and are not super functional (no storage space, shower is separate from bathroom etc)

Advice to the owners

units need upgrades and better insulation for sound
