Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Larry Hirschfield reveals a pattern of spacious apartments in decent locations but plagued with maintenance issues. Several reviewers note chronic neglect in repairing water damage, dealing with pest infestations, and addressing structural deterioration. Garbage management and cleanliness vary significantly between properties, with some buildings well-maintained and others suffering from trash overflow. Most tenants report difficulties reaching responsive management, citing ignored repair requests and slow or no communication. While a few tenants appreciate the affordability and neighborhood, the consensus underscores a need for more attentive, proactive property management and improved upkeep to enhance residents' living conditions and satisfaction.

The apartments would be more suitable if management actually did something!

Pros

Large apartments, high ceilings, a lot of light!

Cons

The cameras in the building are spray painted so black, the walls are falling apart and dirty, The apartments are big and spacious but made with cheep alliances, the ceilings are constantly caving in due to water damage, the walls are sheet rock so they damage easily, the floors are wood threw out the apartment and are always peeling from cheep wood primer, the kitchen tiles are chipped, the cabinets are old and damaged and off the hinges, the sinks are uplifting, calling management is useless they do don’t fix any issues they don’t respond to emails, there is a huge issue with mice threw out the apartments and especially infront of the building because of trash that overflows in front and will be there for days bagged up in the corner! People live here with children and it’s not right! When you first see the apartments you think like wow this is really nice but it’s like they just threw paint and primer on old appliances to make it look new and it’s wearing and tearing nothing in the apartment was brand new everything is old and refurbished.

Advice to the owners

The property owner does not respond to tenants issues, it be better if repairs were made accordingly. No one returns phone calls or emails.

Violations galore... management does not care!

Pros

The apartment itself is very nice, spacious, and homey. Great space for the price.

Cons

Years and years of ongoing repairs that get ignored. Water leaking through walls and ceilings. Have to harass property management to get a response. Regular notices posted by ConEd & National Grid that mgmt owes them money. Violations posted from department of sanitation. The list goes on. ELH runs a shady business and seems to have little interest in helping their tenants. But they love taking our money.

Advice to the owners

Maybe property management isn't the right business for you if you don't actually know how to manage properties. Lol
