Best location, responsive management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location can't be better; Small family business / management actually cares; Apartments have character (some with exposed brick etc)
Cons:
Walk-up building, some funky layouts but thats the EV
Advice to owner:
Metal garbage bins out front would be nice

Great Starter NY Apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
This is my first New York apartment, and I can say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised by my entire experience. The building is well-maintained, almost always very clean, and in a great location. Most importantly, I feel safe in the apartment and have never had a strange encounter. I haven’t had a single pest issue aside from a couple of small bugs. The kitchen was renovated right before moving in, which was great. The unit is a perfect size for 2 people to live in together - I live here with my partner and it feels large enough for 2 people. I’ve only had pleasant experiences with my neighbors. Management is responsive and the super is great too!
Cons:
Occasionally, my packages have been stolen. I was without hot water for about 5 days because of an issue with the boiler, but management did work out a solution where we were able to shower at a nearby gym during that time. When we moved in, the toilet was not clean at all and I had to deep clean it, which wasn’t great. The toilet is separate from the shower and sink portion of the bathroom and the toilet is inside of the bedroom in it’s own small room, which isn’t necessarily a con but it’s kind of strange (mostly just in situations with guests).

Better than most
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super was always around and available. The landlord isn’t a big Corp, so you get the perks of a low-key landlord who isn’t trying to rip you off constantly. Very reasonable.
Cons:
It’s an old building and that’s what you get. The bathroom situations are odd but totally fine depending on your situation.
Advice to owner:
Some inexpensive appearance improvements would go a long way.
