Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by Chaim Schweid present a mixed picture. Many appreciate the rent-stabilized units and a sense of community, especially in Manhattan's Cabrini Boulevard area. Convenient locations near public transit and parks are valued. However, persistent issues include outdated facilities, frequent maintenance delays, poor heating, pest problems, and occasional safety concerns like past fires. Responsiveness varies—some tenants report timely responses to emergencies, while others experience neglect or difficulty communicating, especially with language barriers. Cleanliness and garbage management also range widely across properties. Prospective renters should expect varied management quality, favoring long-term tenants and community engagement but facing infrastructure challenges.

There is a trade off

Pros

Rent stabilized apartments

Cons

Lack of heat, bugs

Good as it gets

Pros

The building has a lot of long time tenants, so there’s a sense of community and everyone rallies together when issues arise. The landlord is responsive, but takes some nagging to get things done. Anything emergent will always be cared for. The street is quiet and safe and if you like old features in an apartment this building has them!

Cons

We’ve had two fires in the three years we’ve lived here. One was human error, the other was electrical which is terrifying. It’s an old building but that should be a priority when remodeling. You can hear people above and next to you footsteps but tbh that’s just apartment living. If you don’t speak Spanish it is hard to get the Super to do anything for you
