Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by Mike Ma reveal a highly inconsistent management experience. Several buildings suffer from poor maintenance, including broken appliances, faulty heating, mold, pest infestations, and neglected common areas. Garbage management and cleanliness vary, with some buildings notably unkempt and others moderately maintained. Responsiveness is a key pain point, as many tenants describe the management as slow, unresponsive, and at times dismissive, exacerbating tenant dissatisfaction. However, some locations benefit from good neighbors, convenient transit access, and pest-free conditions. Overall, renters should expect management that often falls short on maintenance and communication, with occasional well-maintained exceptions.

Don’t do it

Pros

Close to the 2/3 train. 125th st has a traders joes and Whole Foods.

Cons

Everything else! - wall units aren’t enough for first floor apartment so our bills were always high, honestly could have been a shared meter situation as well. - maintenance is non existent. Dishwasher broken for months, claimed they were ordering a part. Still broken when I moved out. -constant drug use on the front steps. -no pest control or janitorial services. Spiders webs all over the common areas and basement where the old busted laundry is. Basement also has mold. -notices left on building about landlord not paying bills or following NYC housing laws.

Advice to the owners

Take care of the building, asking for 3k rent for this place is crazy!

Very nice apartment well located

Pros

This building is really well located, next to the express subway, Whole Foods, restaurants. It is also pest free, and all the units have central air (split units in every room)

Cons

The ventilation system of a restaurant is behind the building and can be noisy at night, the space for the packages is the same as the spot for the garbage
