Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for Mel Cherney's buildings reveal a mix of experiences. While many residents appreciate the desirable locations and generally clean conditions, there's a consistent concern regarding management responsiveness. Issues such as slow repairs, maintenance requests often going unanswered, and faulty buzzer systems are frequently mentioned. Pest control appears to be hit or miss, with some tenants facing cockroach problems. Although some buildings offer decent amenities, the overall management could improve significantly in communication and efficiency. Prospective renters should be prepared to take initiative regarding maintenance but can expect a good neighborhood experience.

Reviews

Former tenant·just now

Prime location and apartment, but at a big cost

Pros

1. Apartment amenities and location are almost unbeatable for the price point 2. Nestled in a quiet street between 1st ave and 2nd ave 3. Rat free apartment and has been for years (if you're in the upper floors)

Cons

1. Super is unresponsive or very slow - you'll need to constantly follow up or need to get a hold of the landlord if you want anything done. Even then, getting the landlord to fix something can be difficult 2. Door to buzz someone in always breaks and barely works 3. It takes forever to things to get fixed (if at all)

Advice to the owners

Realistically nothing will change unless you get a new super and pay up in maintenance costs, but that would also drive up rental costs for tenants

Unresponsive management, broken amenities, and bad super

Pros

- good location - elevator & laundry

Cons

- super is very unresponsive and rude - management is unresponsive - laundry and elevator break often and don’t go fixed for days to even weeks - buzzer to the units rarely work - really not worth the price to live here

Advice to the owners

Be more responsive and communicative with tenants.
