Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of buildings managed by Jonathan Ostrow reveal a mixed management performance. While some tenants appreciate the good location, spacious units, and friendly neighbors, significant issues persist, especially atcertain properties. Complaints include poor building maintenance, ineffective garbage management, and inadequate heating, with some buildings experiencing long-term gas outages. Tenants also report slow or unresponsive landlord communication, with a few feeling the management is lacking respect and possibly motivated by rent hikes rather than resident well-being. Despite some areas showing cleanliness and good water pressure, overall, there is a call for improved upkeep, faster responsiveness, and a more tenant-focused approach to management.

Great location, terrible landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
This is one of the most beautiful blocks in all of NYC Other tenants are lovely with many living there for many years
Cons:
The landlord who bought the building about 4 years ago is not a good person, he has allowed this beautiful building fall into disrepair. I believe in many ways he may be trying but he is simply outside of his depth in managing this property.
The building went for almost 2 years with no gas - which resulted in no heat or cooking gas for most tenants.
Landlord gave small concessions but ultimately mismanaged this entire project. Landlord seemsb motivated to get tenants to move out & to increase rents.
Advice to owner:
Sell the property & get it into more capable hands. Don't be mean & vindictive either.
