Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants of buildings managed by Margaret Brunn report pervasive issues with building upkeep, including persistent pest infestations (roaches, mice, bedbugs), poor garbage management, and delayed or inadequate maintenance responses. Many tenants cite unresponsive management and lack of communication, leading to unresolved problems such as broken elevators, water leaks, and heating inconsistencies. While some buildings have friendly neighbors and quiet environments, others suffer from noise disturbances and unsafe conditions. Rent-stabilized units, in particular, appear neglected, with tenants feeling pushed out by superficial renovations. Despite occasional praise for superintendents and some renovated units, overall management is viewed as neglectful and lacking tenant respect.

Reviews

Former tenant·9 minutes ago

good overall but needs lots of work

Pros

nice building, good people, great neighborhood, big apartments

Cons

lots of units have been abandoned by the landlord for years and years, specifically for the tenants who have been there for decades. the trash incinerator currently does not work and there are roaches. heat and hot water has also been inconsistent.

Advice to the owners

actually upkeep the building and treat your tenants with the respect they deserve to live in a safe and nice home

Make the roaches disappear

Pros

Location, relatively quiet neighborhood, easy to access MTA transport into the city.

Cons

UPDATE: super & management STILL DON’T respond properly. Took them to court, still have issues within my unit and repairs the need to be done in the building itself. Roaches! They do have a company that comes twice a month to provide pest control, but you have to be home. Working a Monday-Friday it’s kinda hard to just leave or not go into work to wait all day for pest control to come. I’ve emailed management & the super about some things that need to be addressed in my unit, it’s been almost 3 months now and NO RESPONSE!

Advice to the owners

Respond to your tenets when we call/email/text. Tent the building, the roach issue is NOT normal.
