Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Rae Gurewitsch presents a mixed experience. While some residents praise the spacious apartments, friendly neighbors, and attentive doormen and superintendents, there are notable concerns regarding building maintenance. Common issues include outdated appliances, leaks, poor wall conditions, and pest problems. Cleanliness varies considerably across properties, with hallways, stairwells, and basements frequently needing more thorough cleaning. Garbage management and noise control receive average to positive mentions, but ownership responsiveness is inconsistent, sometimes seen as slow or outdated. Overall, management could improve communication, contractor quality, and building upkeep to enhance tenant satisfaction.

Pros

Quiet and fairly clean.

Cons

The owners/management have a very poor communication system, completely outdated, don’t respond to problems unless it’s dangerous, ignore multiple issues, hire cheap contractors that do poor jobs, multiple problems are ongoing, the building is not energy officiant, pipes leak between floors, bad conditions of walls, ceilings, paint, walls are not properly waterproofed, inner walls around windows that aren’t well installed are damp. Prices go up but the conditions in the building are not up to the standard of high rent. Because of the conditions I moved to a much smaller unit at $2,715 but the old barely working stove/oven is not replaced - cannot cook normally!!

Advice to the owners

Replace old appliances - the old ones barely work and are dangerous!!! Improve the building in general, higher quality contractors, care about your tenants, update communication and conditions of walls, pipes, energy supply. Fix leaks! Lower rent!
