Renter/Owner does not matter.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is good. Easy walking distance to subways, and stores. If you have children and want an excellent school, PS/IS 187 is very close. The super is friendly. At least 3 museums are within walking distance.
Cons:
The basement is filthy. The laundry room area belongs in a Third World country. The storage area is dirty, and dusty. Why bother to pay to store your possessions in such a filthy area? If you are a renter, don't expect your request to be expedite it by the management company, OneVesta. If you are an owner, the board members back stab each other. The head of the board looks down on many of the other shareholders and gossips about them. He also is not very truthful. The management company for the building, Siren Management, can treat people with contempt. Slow to respond to major issues. They had an asbestos abatement in the back of the building and failed to inform most people of the problem. They did not even seal off the area properly. For the amount of money they ask to purchase units hear, and rent, it's not worth it. Find another building to rent, or buy in. BTW. Neighbors, hm, the word does not resonate here. People are strangers to one another.
Advice to owner:
Sell it to someone who is better.
