Nice block, awful management
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building is cute and the block is very quiet and peaceful.
Cons:
It’s not well maintained at all. And good luck trying to get anything fixed. The “super” is horrible and can’t respond to a text to save his life, and if he does respond, he is either very rude or makes absolutely no sense. Also, we had no heat for over a month and had to call 311 several times. The landlady will gaslight you. Our upstairs neighbors had to move out because they refused to fix a dangerous leak upstairs. 28th st is great but don’t move into this building!
Advice to owner:
Actually fix things that are broken and fix them promptly and without being rude or disrespectful.

Cute Building Horrible Landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building has a lot of character. It’s old, has great antique details like the doors and bannisters. Small building with only six units. Lots of light in the upstairs hallways. Also it’s on a quiet Astoria residential street.
Cons:
The building management is horrible. It’s owned by an old lady and run by her son. They’re both never there to check on things. Frequently, the hallways and entrance are dirty and unkempt. It takes them months to address any issues you have. Additionally, when you text the landlords son, he is incoherent. They are threatening and try to intimate you or make you pay for repairs that are clearly the fault of the owner. Additionally, all of the businesses on the block are closed or in disuse.
Advice to owner:
Do your job. If you own a building. Be there and take care of it. Understand that issues come up and they need to be addressed.
