Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

The buildings managed by Chaim Goldberger show a stark contrast in tenant experiences. Some properties are praised for cleanliness, responsive management, and good amenities like strong water pressure and effective garbage management. However, many reviews indicate serious issues including poor maintenance, pest infestations, insufficient heating, and lack of timely repairs. Several tenants report unreturned security deposits and frustration with inconsistent communication. Noise disturbances and safety concerns are also mentioned. While some units offer well-maintained living spaces and attentive superintendents, overall management responsiveness varies significantly, with repeated calls for better transparency, maintenance, and tenant respect.

Reviews

Good location, well-priced, forced to leave

Pros

Building is regularly cleaned, close to the L train, in-unit washer dryer, responsive management for the most part

Cons

High electric bill, management company is inconsistent and at times repair people don't show up when they say they will, being forced to move after one year due to construction

Advice to the owners

Be more transparent with tenants about why a newly-renovated building is being vacated

Don’t rent here

Pros

Good water pressure. Near St. John’s park and two express subway stops

Cons

Rats and landlord does nothing about them - inside and outside apartment. No heat, again landlord does nothing about it. Landlord eggs you on, saying he will fix things but never does. Still raises rent the maximum he legally can. Lead in paint and doesn’t fix it - city has to fix it and charge him because he doesn’t do it. Doesn’t salt when it’s icy. Always getting trash violations. I could go on and on. Neighbor told me he is a slum lord.
