Unresponsive management - does not take problems seriously
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Renovated - Not too many units
Cons:
- Building management was unresponsive. - Had no heat for an extended amount of time in the middle of winter
Ok location with Myrtle-Wyckoff L & M, Knickerbocker M both within under 10min walking distance, bodega downstairs is a convenient but experience is a mixed bag.
The maintenance people and office employees are nice.
Cons:
Landlord doesn't respond to major repair issues: gas leaks, HVAC, dishwasher leaks, flooding, etc. Our oven didn't work upon move-in, so we were without it until it was replaced in August. The oven wasn't installed correctly, resulting in an ongoing gas leak until FEBRUARY. Landlord wasn't responding for three+ weeks, claimed to have fixed it, but National Grid came out and let us know that there was *still* a gas leak. We haven't had a working stove...ever. But currently the cooking gas has been off since April 4.
The building doesn't seem to be up to any habitable safety standard.
Also, the block and building flood.
Update a few months after moving out: management continues to be a pain. Our coned meter was broken for most of our tenancy, resulting in higher “estimated” bills from coned. Can’t get them to work together to find a solution or give me an accurate bill for the months the meter wasn’t functional.
Advice to owner:
Fix your building before someone living here or neighbors get seriously hurt or sick- gas leaks, standing water, and complete lack of communication from management are dangerous.
