Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews for buildings managed by Matt Cohen reveal ongoing challenges with building maintenance and management responsiveness. While locations and spacious apartments are appreciated, frequent complaints highlight poor cleanliness, inadequate garbage disposal, pest infestations, heating issues including inconsistent or insufficient heat, and water leaks. Residents describe management as difficult to reach, slow to respond, and sometimes rude, with supers often unreachable or not proactive. Noise levels vary, but occasional disturbances are noted. Despite these drawbacks, some tenants appreciate the neighborhood and community feel. Overall, the management under Matt Cohen appears to struggle with timely maintenance and tenant communication, impacting tenant satisfaction.

Reviews

Former tenant·10 hours ago

It's a typical NYC cheap apartment but expensive

Pros

Lovely neighbors, well located, surprisingly pest free for being above a restaurant. A nice amount of space.

Cons

Above a bar, issues with heat and hot water, trash around the corner, hallways are disgusting. Super is kind but will ignore you completely for days, weeks, months. Issues with plumbing in the building that cause ceiling leaks. The building has rent controlled tenants, and I think the owner intentionally keeps it shitty to push them out.

Advice to the owners

Actually fix things. Stop being cheap about heat.

Pros

Cons

no heat in the middle of winter, the building is old so always found droppings and had bad rodent problem, also bugs. very poor response time from management

Advice to the owners
